Rotarian Jerry Carvey Celebrated

At the April 21, 2026 Rotary meeting, Jerry Carvey was celebrated and recognized for his lasting contributions to the City of Rochester Hills. A highlight of the meeting was the announcement that the Gerald Carvey Green Space, a protected five-acre wildlife preserve near the intersection of Livernois and Avon Roads in Rochester Hills, has been officially named in his honor. Formerly known as the Harding Green Space, the preserve reflects Jerry's lifelong

Jerry has long been recognized as a passionate conservationist. He has supported efforts to encourage outdoor exploration and preserve valuable green spaces throughout the community. Mayor Bryan Barnett announced that as Rochester Hills continues its efforts to expand parks and protect natural areas, the City Council unanimously approved renaming the preserve as the Carvey Green Space.

City staff unveiled the new park sign and displayed photos of the scenic preserve, showcasing the beauty of the space that will carry Jerry's name. Jerry humbly accepted the honor and expressed sincere gratitude for the kind words, the recognition, and the naming of the green space in tribute to him.

During the meeting, several friends and colleagues shared heartfelt remarks about Jerry's character, leadership, and dedication to public service, including his years of service on the Rochester Hills City Council and his commitment to Rotary.

A Rochester Rotarian for over 5 years, Jerry and his wife, Clara, have been deeply involved in Rotary Youth Exchange programs, helping young people gain international experiences and fostering greater global understanding. Jerry is also a past president of the Rochester Rotary Club and is well known as one of its outstandng song leaders.
