Each spring, Bordine’s Nursery in Rochester transforms into a magical venue for one of the community’s most anticipated evenings of the year—the Rochester Rotary Club’s Annual Wine and Beer Tasting fundraiser. This year’s event once again delighted guests with a vibrant selection of fine wines, craft beers, gourmet bites from local restaurants, and an impressive array of silent auction items. Surrounded by Bordine’s lush floral displays and the sounds of live music, attendees enjoyed an unforgettable celebration of community, charity, and springtime splendor.
A highlight of the evening was the “People’s Choice Best Taste” contest, where guests voted for their favorite culinary creation. The 2025 winner: Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse, located at 301 W. Big Beaver Road in Troy. Known for its distinctive gaucho-style service and impressive salad and appetizer bar, Fogo de Chão brought bold flavors and culinary excellence to the event.
“We feel incredibly fortunate to have participated in the Rochester Rotary Wine & Beer Tasting for the third consecutive year,” said Michelle Choice, Event Sales Manager at Fogo de Chão. “Part of our mission is to nourish our community with respect and generosity. This event gives us the opportunity to do just that—right here in Oakland County. Whether you’re already a Fogo fan or discovering us for the first time, it’s an honor to receive the 2025 Best Taste Award.”
Jeff Duperon, event co-chair, reflected on the collaboration and generosity that make the event possible. “This event thrives on the support of so many—the participating restaurants, our wine and beer vendors, silent auction donors and sponsors, and of course, our gracious host, Bordine’s Nursery. I’m always moved by the generosity from within the Rotary Club and the broader community. I was especially pleased to see Fogo de Chão win this year—they’ve been incredible supporters of this event for years.”
Kyle Johnson, fellow event co-chair, echoed the sentiment and noted the broader community impact: “We’re thrilled with this year’s turnout and the funds raised. It’s always inspiring to see our community come together in support of so many important causes. The energy, generosity, and camaraderie truly made it a meaningful evening for everyone involved.”
Proceeds from the event support a range of local initiatives, including scholarships and grants to organizations such as Neighborhood House, Leader Dogs for the Blind, the Paint Creek Center for the Arts, the New Day Foundation, Grace Centers of Hope, and others. Additionally, the Rochester Rotary Club contributes to global efforts through Rotary International, supporting projects aimed at eradicating polio and malaria, and providing access to clean drinking water worldwide.
