Rochester Rotary Charities is helping stock the shelves and refrigerators of the Neighborhood House Food Pantry thanks to a $1,000 Meijer Community Grant.
The Rotary District 6380 encouraged Rotary clubs to support local food pantries, and Rochester Rotary Charities responded by partnering with Neighborhood House, a nonprofit, faith-based organization that has served the greater Rochester area for decades. The organization provides a wide range of services to residents of Rochester, Rochester Hills, Oakland Township, Addison Township, and Auburn Hills, including a food pantry that assists children, seniors, veterans, and working families facing food insecurity.
The Meijer gift cards will allow Neighborhood House to purchase the foods that are often needed most but are difficult to obtain through donations, including fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, eggs, meat, and other protein items. The grant will also help replenish pantry staples such as canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, and soup while providing flexibility to respond to seasonal needs and unexpected increases in demand.

"We're grateful for this opportunity to help provide healthy, nutritious food to local families and to strengthen an organization that serves our neighbors with dignity and compassion."
Food insecurity affects people of every age and background, and the need for assistance continues to grow. This grant will help Neighborhood House provide nutritious meals to hundreds of local households while maximizing the impact of community partnerships and charitable giving.
For Rochester Rotary, the project is another example of its commitment to Service Above Self. By working together with Rotary District 6380, Meijer, and Neighborhood House, Rochester Rotary Charities is helping ensure that local families have access to the food they need and that no neighbor has to face hunger alone.
