Cass Community Social Services

Rev. Faith Fowler is both the pastor of Cass Community United Methodist Church and the Executive Director of Cass Community Social Services, a nonprofit agency that provides food, housing, medical/mental health and employment programs for people living in areas of concentrated poverty. She has held these positions since 1994.
In addition to her work at Cass, Rev. Fowler has served as a board member of the Cass Corridor Neighborhood Development Corporation, an advisory board member of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging, a board member and trustee on the General Board of Church and Society, as well as a trustee for Albion College.
In 2014, Rev. Fowler founded Cass Community Publishing House. She has authored two of CCPH’s books, This Far by Faith: Twenty Years at Cass Community and Tiny Homes in a Big City.
Rev. Fowler graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Albion College. She received a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from the Boston University School of Theology and a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree from the University of Michigan - Dearborn. She currently serves as an adjunct professor for the University of Michigan – Dearborn.
Her interests include reading, running, the environment and travel. Rev. Fowler has finished the Boston Marathon four times. She has visited Zimbabwe, Africa; Sydney, Australia; Seoul, South Korea; Russia, as well as several countries in Europe. She also enjoys public speaking and regularly addresses religious, civic, corporate and academic groups.
Rev. Fowler has lived in Detroit for the last 38 years. She owned an 1864 Victorian house in Corktown before moving onto the Cass campus in order to live and participate with people residing in the tiny homes and the surrounding neighborhood.
