President Wayne Hodges opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, then we sang God Bless America, and recited the modified Four Way Test. President Wayne then gave thanks to Marty McClure for posting the Rotary flags out front. The invocation was given by President Wayne, giving thanks for fall, our community, our club, and our great nation. Lunch was served.
ATTENDANCE
We had 54 members present, and three guests, Lori Grien, Joann Beydoun, and Bob Justin, all from Rochester Community Schools.

Samantha Wingerter was exceptionally pleased to give fine protection this week to Phil McPeek, congrats Phil!
HAPPY BUCKS
Pete Duhammel was happy that the Lions didn't lose.
Vito Pampalona was proud to announce that he published his first book, 'Real Americans'.
David Eardley was happy about the Brooksie Way (especially being done with it), and the community support for this event.
Alaina Campbell was proud to announce several new board members for the Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce, Jason Rewold, Pam Valentik, and Brian Mulrenin.
ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK
The current Rotarian of the Week decided that she would like to keep the award for another week, adding more dinero to the bejeweled trophy.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
President Wayne asked that anyone with a high traffic business please take a poster to promote our speaker for next week.
Janet Drobnich then thanked all of volunteers for next week's Operation Schoolbell (distributing various items such as coats, hats, gloves, etc. in downtown Detroit). She also announced an outing to Grace Center of Hope, anyone interested please see her to sign up (and / or bring a box of pancake mix) for the 8th of October.
Marty Pavlick announced the job shadow program this fall. Anyone interested in participating as a mentor (including anyone outside of the club that you feel would be a good fit), please see Marty or Ethan.
Steve Oehler then spoke briefly about the golf outing and golf ball drop, announcing that we exceeded our target profit goal to the tune of $24k.
Tom Neveau then gave a check to the Rochester Community School's Foundation, one of our designated beneficiaries from the golf outing. Dr. Robert Shaner, Superintendent of Rochester Community Schools accepted the check.
President Wayne then spoke about how all three local high schools raised over $74k for Shelter Box, exceptional.

BIRTHDAYS AND CLUB ANNIVERSARIES
Brad Upton and Mel Gay celebrated birthdays this week. There were no anniversaries.

SHERIFF'S REPORT
Steve Schettenhelm then fined everyone for assorted and sundry reasons, no one was protected, from people jumping out of airplanes (why?), the Brooksie Way, the Emmy's, the sinking fund (and anything associated with sinks, sinking, or a sinking feeling), the holidays (National Punctuation Day anyone?), and head lice, raising $219 for our charities.
PROGRAM
David Eardley then introduced our speaker of the day, Dr. Robert Shaner, superintendent of the Rochester Community Schools. Dr. Shaner spoke to us about the upcoming vote about the sinking fund proposal on November 5th. Specifically, he wanted us to know what the money will be used for, and that there will not be an increase in taxes with this fund. Excellent information, thanks very much for speaking to us today.
