John Lyman, Public Information Officer of the Rochester Hills Fire Department was our program. He began this role after 33 years as a career firefighter.
The Rochester Hills Fire Department is made up of 5 firehouses served by 56 career firefighters. They serve the community through fighting fires, responding to EMS related incidents, severe weather incidents, educating the community and so much more. In 2020 they responded to 6,681 calls 83% of which were EMS related. Fall calls are their number 1 call.
The department keeps up with the best equipment allowing them to serve the community in the most efficient ways. As a response to COVID the department installed aeroclave disinfecting units that keep the vehicles and equipment clean and safe for firefighters and the community alike. Their heart monitoring equipment provides ER level results that allow the hospital to prepare for the patient while enroute, sometimes skipping the ER all together. This provides precious lifechanging minutes that result in the best possible care.
Whether in response to our emergencies, educating our youth, or preparing us for severe weather, we are grateful for the Rochester Hills Fire Department.
We are still on the look for a forever meeting home.
