My happy buck is a $20 happy buck. Last year during the habitat for humanity dinner was a very sad day for me. As a rotary member I was excited to support. While there I had 2 families come to me and congratulate me on my new home as if I was the recipient. I was the only person of color at that fundraiser. When the third couple approached us they kneeled down to my 13 year old daughter and congratulated her on her new home and asked about her children. He was referring to her 3 younger siblings. At this point I left. I considered leaving rotary feeling like I didn’t belong. Of course this was not my only experience, just mine with rotary. This past week there has been a lot of sorrow realized around the world and it breaks my heart but my happy buck today is for the love I’ve seen. The love I’ve received from some of my rotary members this week and the love I’ve seen around the world has fed part of my soul that I was ignoring. I have hope for my beautiful children and their future.
From lindameastman to Everyone: 12:17 PM

We also had one club anniversary today: Pat Dubey on June 6th.
