Alan McLellan, president of the Charities, invited Bianca Fauble of HAVEN to give an update on the use of the grant which was received earlier this year.  She shared how the grant has enabled further opportunities with the HAVEN garden in providing fresh vegetables, helping with cooking skills for the women and children who are residing there.  The garden space is being enhanced by a gazebo and a mud kitchen.  It is truly a tranformational space for the women and children.  Alan then presented her with a check for $2,000 from Charities to continue their great work.

PROGRAM
Ron Lichtle introduced today's speaker, David Summers, who presented the program, FCA goes to Hollywood.  David worked for FCA for 20 years, with the last 5 years doing product placement with the movie industry.  It was one of the most interesting experiences in his life.  He was able to put FCA vehicles in 59 movies, not including music videos.  He shared that product placement of vehicles in movies drives foot traffic into dealerships.  There is a clear correlation, he stated.  He shared the incredible success that Ray Ban sunglasses had after they were worn by Tom Cruise in Top Gun.  So, there is the potential of a win-win for auto manufacturers and movie studios through these partnerships.  Key to the success is having the vehicle release as closely connected to the opening of the movie, which is a key logistic.  At times, the vehicle to be featured has not been produced when the deals are being made.  In particular, FCA vehicles have been well represented in the Fast and Furious franchise.  He took time to show a number of movie previews, which featured FCA (Dodge Challenger and Maserati) vehicles that he had arranged including:  Jack Reacher (50 Chrysler 200s for one scene), Bad Moms, Jason Bourne (12 Chargers featured on the Las Vegas strip), and Batman vs. Superman (where he spent 15 months on the set).  He shared a number of great stories about his experiences.  During the Q&A, he commented that car companies read all the scripts to see if they're even interested in having a product placement.  He also said that car companies do stipulate the amount of screen time, especially with music videos.  The key to all of this is the visibility that movies bring to the car companies.  He once had to say not to a movie idea because FCA no longer built the vehicles that were needed.  Many thanks to his wife, Lori, who assisted him with this presentation.  Thank you, David, for a great and informative program!
