President Wayne Hodges opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, then we sang God Bless America, and recited the modified Four Way Test. The invocation was given by Jerry Gross. Lunch was served.

There were 45 Rotarians present, and seven guests: Lars Nordberg guest of Ron Lichtle, Genevieve Hendler guest of Tom, Jerry Hendler guest of Tom, Kevin Kelly guest of Tom, David Cattermole guest of Greg Schaefer, Suzanne Klien from the Grosse Pointe Rotary Club, and Jackie Kippen guest of Linda Eastman.
15th HANDSHAKE
David Walker announced to the club that William Gross earned the 15th handshake this week, enjoy the week without fines William!
HAPPY BUCKS
Many happy Rotarians were present this week, but, due to time constraints, we were unable to celebrate our own happiness.
ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK
Tim Crawford gave the bejeweled trophy to Paul Haig, for always going above and beyond with decorating his store for the holidays. Congrats Paul!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Vern and Ernestine Pixley were present, and committed a sizable amount of money to the Rotary Foundation. As such, we have changed one of our high school scholarships to the Don G. Pixley Memorial Scholarship. Kevin Kelly from the Foundation was on hand to give thanks, and a few mementos to the Pixley's. Vern Pixley said a few words about his father, all of his accomplishments, and his pride in being a Rotarian.
Wayne then inducted two new members, Ryan Deel and Juliane Morian. Welcome, and congratulations!
Tom Neveau then came to the podium to give a check to Meals on Wheels. Renee Cortright was on hand to accept the check, and discussed briefly what the money will be used for. She also was very thankful for the poinsettias that were delivered with the Meals on Wheels deliveries.
Tim Crawford then spoke briefly about the Masters Raffle. If you have tickets, please sell them! March 24th is the date for the raffle.
BIRTHDAYS AND CLUB ANNIVERSARIES
There were several birthdays this coming week, Tom Asmus on the 22nd of January, Ernie Schaefer January 22nd, and Paul Haig on the 22nd as well. Club anniversaries: Jerry Wankett, Jeff Whitbey, and Vito Pampalona.
SONGS
Jerry Carvey then led us in one song, Button Up Your Overcoat. Thanks Jerry, great choice!
SHERIFF'S REPORT
Steve Schettenhelm then came to the podium and proceeded to extract $242 from our wallets for our charities. New members, snow shoveling technique (or lack thereof), the DIA, the Royals, draft dodgers, SAG Awards, National Oatmeal Month, National Hug Day, nothing was left out. Great job Steve!
PROGRAM
David Eardley then introduced our speaker of the day, Amanda Harrision Keighley. She spoke at length about what is happening at the DIA, and how you can take advantage of all that they are offering. Thank you for speaking Amanda!
