Regular Weekly Meeting  Summary– August 23, 2016
 
Club President Tom Neveau gaveled the meeting order earlyat 12:08 pm EDT and led 56 Club members and  8 guests to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Paula followed with My Country Tis of Thee, which all attending sang. President Tom led us to recite the Rotary 4-Way test and Gerry Carvey completed the opening of the meeting with a timely invocation citing thanks for country, community service and a better world. Lunch was then served – Sweet Corn, Chicken/Vegetable wraps, Salad Bar and Ice Cream

HAPPY BUCKS
Renee Cortright was happy that Kelly Dean was joining the staff of Rochester OPC. Gerry Jackson was happy because today's speaker was his friend and Rodney Hulbert was happy because his sister and nephew had visited Rochester and thoroughly enjoyed geocaching, walking along Rochester's trails and absorbing the beautiful sights.
Do Good leader Janet Drobnich was happy that Abiding Presence Lutheran Church fundraiser for Neighborhood House was a huge success due ample donations of school supplies and overwhelming help from Rotarians like Shirley Gofrank, Maria Willet, Kelly Dean, Jerry Gross, Renee Cortright, Mary Ann Reidinger, Linda Eastman and, Janet's husband, Vaughn,

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
 Jay Eastman announced that the Club had raised ~$18,000 during the 15AU16 Golf Ball Drop and presented winner Valerie Alef with a check for $5000. Valerie had purchased her ticket from Linda Eastman again this year. Jay thanked all participants and corporate sponsors:

- Eastman and Wozniak ,MD,PC

Jay offered a special thanks to Jim Kennedy who personally sold 100 tickets.

 
Bill Ebinger announced that any one wishing to "buy a brick" at Rotary Park should contact Bill very soon as the next updates are schedule for mid October, 2016. Bill's email address is  bdebinger@sbcglobal.net.
 
Ron Diliddo announced that Jay Eastman will chair the upcoming"Lobster Fest" scheduled for 18OC16.
 
Tim Duncan apologized for being a email donkey but did manage to announce that anyone planning to attend the 29AU16 Tigers game or ride the bus, needs to complete their reservations immediately. Call Tim with any questions.
 
President Tom announced that both the Auburn Hills and Pontiac Rotary Clubs would join our 13SE16 meeting as 6380 District Governor would be our speaker that day.
Tom also reminded all that Rotary was celebrating the birthday of founder and song instigator Arch C. Klumph in Cleveland on 23OC16. For more details, see Rotary International's website https://www.rotary.org.
 
Wayne Hodges announced that all 4 of the Rochester Rotary Interact Clubs, had been recognized by Rotary International as earning the coveted Presidential Citation. Wayne explained that the Presidential Citation confirms that the ACE, ADAMS, ROCHESTER HIGH and STONEY CREEK Interact Clubs are all truly alive in our community and making a real difference. Wayne went on to explain that of the 42 Interact Clubs in District 6380, only 9 earned the Presidential Citation distinction.  4 of those 9 schools, are sponsored by the Rochester Rotary Club!!!

SHERIFF 
All 4 Sheriffs were AWOL so President Tom demonstrated great leadership and thrift by asking all attending to just pay their fair tax which raised $172 in less than 30 seconds.

President Nominee introduced speaker Ben Boudro who owns and operates Xcelebration Fitness in Auburn Hills. As a former MSU Wrester, Ben teaches a nurturing team environment while emphasizing a good yet simple balance in "What You Eat, Your Work Life, Sleep, Water Consumption" while supporting a program of "Weight Training, Cardio Exercise and Nutrition". Ben brought along his "Poster Child", Rotarian and PDG Gerry Jackson who has lost 42#, 10" off his waist and eliminated 10% body fat since January, 2016.
