PROGRAM
Ron Lichtle introduced today's speaker, Jenny Brown, COO and cofounder of Dutton Farms. She cofounded Dutton Farms with her mom in 2010 for her sister, who has Down's Syndrome. Dutton Farms was begun to offer life and job skills for people with disabilities and to bring awareness and inclusion of people with disabilities. They aim to offer college/career services/job support for people with disabilities to continue their learning opportunities and to develop job skills. She referenced an article where it states that companies that champion people with disabilities as employees perform better than companies that do not. Dutton Farms began offering skill building with 3 farmers back in 2010. She shared a video from a WDIV broadcast, featuring their good work and also shared a touching story about Marty, who accomplished his dream of having a job and earning a paycheck. She spoke of the life transformation that has occurred for their clients. Jenny also talked about their social enterprise program and the line of soap and other care products that are known as Dutton Farms Market. She also brought samples of their work for Rotarians to see. Dutton Farms was the Oakland County Provider of the Year, and they are currently finalists in the Dolphin Tank, which is similar to Shark Tank, and the finals will be held at the Ford World Headquarters. She took time to answer questions. Currently Dutton Farms has a team of 25 persons with 60 persons enrolled in ongoing programs.
Thank you, Jenny, for an informative presentation!
President Rodney closed the meeting at 1:33 p.m. See you next week!
