Regular Weekly Meeting  Summary– Septmber 6, 2016
 
Club President Tom Neveau President Tom opened the meeting at 12:05.  He led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Paula followed with a lovely arrangement of America the Beautiful.  Tom led us in the four way test and Dr. Bill Ebinger led us in the invocation.  We had a very tasty meal of ham, au gratin potatoes and peas.
 
Tom resumed the meeting by asking Secretary Jeff Whitbey to introduce our guest:

HAPPY BUCKS
-Bill Ebinger is happy to announce that he is leaving Thursday to spend a month at his home in Montana.
-He also announced that in his absence you may see Jeff Whibey if you wish to purchase a brick for Rotary Park.
-Mel Gay simply said “Go Blue”!
-Kelly Dean was happy to announce the annual OPC apple pie sale.  On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday guests can drive up to the OPC circle drive and pick up a pie, and the OPC will have a booth at the Art and Apples Festival.  You may purchase a delicious pie at their booth.
-Alan Mclellan was happy that he and his family spent a nice weekend in Petosky, MI and also happy that his children have started back to school.
-Jan Drobnich was happy that 5 Rotarians have volunteered to peel apples for the OPC on Wednesday beginning at 8:00 AM.
-Mary Lee Kowalczyk was happy that so many Rotarians had shown her great kindness at the passing of two of her sisters in the past 2 weeks.
-Bryan Barnett is happy to announce that the bridge is now open on Adams Rd and all the other construction is complete.  He is also happy that he will be judging the apple pie eating contest on September 11.
- Bob Lytle is happy to announce that on Sunday he will be back to work.
- Rodney was happy to announce that he had a great day on the water over the weekend, and only had to fix one thing on the boat during the excursion.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
-Next week our Assistant Governor will visit our club.  We have invited the Auburn Hills club and the Pontiac club to join our meeting.
-President Tom announced that Wednesday, September 14, 2016, is Parents Night at the Four Rochester high Schools.  We want to have a table at each of the schools to support the interactors and to put a major emphasis on the Rotary Student Exchange Program.  The program goes from 7:00 – 9:00 PM.  Please contact Tom if you are able to assist with this effort.
-Wayne Hodges could not be at our meeting today because he was at Oakland University assisting the Rotaract Club at Grizz Fest.    
-Rhonda Panczyk could not attend today because she is in Chicago with Rotary international’s “Wind-Up” Meeting where they are meeting with representatives from Afghanistan and Pakistan discussing what it will take to end polio in these countries.
-Bob Lytle’s name was drawn out of a hat to win a Paul Harris square.
-Kerry announced that Lobsterfest will be held on Friday October 28.  The cost will be $40 per person.  If you woul be intereste in sitting on this committee, please see him or Ron Diliddo.
-Dave Archbold announced that he took his 1965 Red Mustang to the Labor Day Parade in Clarkston.  He was proud to advertize the Rochester Rotary Club during the parade. 
-President Tom informed us that we will have afloat at the Rochester Christmas Parade again this year.
 
SONGS
Bob Lytle led us in two songs; School Days and the Battle hymn of the Republic in honor of school starting.
 
SHERIFF
 Dave Blair used every "Hi Tech" trick in the book to fine almost  everyone for things from bragging about owning a 1965 Mustang to having hardwood floors in your home to gloating about your teams latest win.  He raised a whopping $168 for local charities.
SPEAKER
President Nominee Rodney Hulbert introduced Rotarian– Chief Schettenhelm as our speaker for the day and he spoke about how the media is affecting Law Enforcement today.  He titled his speech “Being Smart & Safe in a Fishbowl”.  He had a wonderful presentation enjoyed by  all.
